Mary’s Peak Search and Rescue, Inc. (MPSAR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, incorporated with the state of Oregon. MPSAR provides search and rescue assistance for people who are lost out of doors. We specifically provide assistance to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and other official agencies in charge of search and rescue missions throughout Oregon.
MPSAR provides assistance in the form of initial first response, search management, road search and containment, mantracking, communications, and other ground search teams. We maintain a four-wheel-drive capability to support search and rescue.
MPSAR is more than a search and rescue group. We regularly assist the Benton County Sheriff’s office with emergency preparedness demonstrations and community emergencies, as well as assisting the Red Cross in damage assessments after storms and floods.
We also provide transportation to health professionals, patients, and human services organizations during inclement weather.
MPSAR is funded by donations, dues and fund raising events. The biggest fund raising event of the year is held on the second weekend in July every year in Philomath, Oregon. At the annual Philomath Frolic, MPSAR is famous for chicken dinners.
MPSAR holds general Business Meetings on the first Non-Holiday Monday of each month at 7pm. We meet at the Benton County Public Works Day Room, located at 360 SW Avery Ave. in Corvallis, Oregon.
Each meeting consists of an hour of business followed by an hour of training. Visitors are welcome.
Additional training is scheduled throughout the year, including but not limited to an annual Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association Search and Rescue certification course and Third Thursday training days.
